I often sleep through them, I have a tendancy to set them way too early, and theres no such thing and a pleasant alarm tune.

This morning I discovered the worst possible alarm scenario. Its happened before but
other times it wasnt so much as a problem. I do work on peoples cars, this weeks is a smash repair
job on a jackaroo. Something weird has happened with the anti theft and it decided to go off by itself this morning at 7am. Thirty mins before my alarm. One thing I might point out here is my early morning sleep is vital, I rarely fall asleep until around 4 or 5am, I tend to lie in bed with my eyes shut as I cant turn my brain off. Anyhoo!, I woke up, sorted the alarm, decided to brush my teeth while I was up and go to bed.

I sat an lied there, in the most indecisive state of my life. Should I turn the alarm off, or am I awake enough to just chill in bed for a while. Should I check the time its going to go off any second. I basically sat there for like 25 minutes waiting for the sound of the alarm.

It couldn't have gone any worse. Curse you infernal alarm!

The Police Commisioner Bob is an asshole.

This chaps been making all kind of stupid road laws and changes in laws while Labor has been in power.

The latest is using old decrepit vans on the side of the highways (where the least fatalities occur) to make them more inconspicuous. Lately my angers been pretty high with all the absolute BS thats gone on in regards to climate change at the Copenhagen summet ect. With that crap cleared up and hopefully not going to rear its ugly head again any time soon, my anger was reduced.

Today I was mulling over abbotts latest and he seems to be a pretty good egg. So again, my anger for Turnbulls suicidal tactics were gone. My hopes for a coalition government were higher than ever.

Then I started to think about Anna Bligh, I pretty much hate her more than anyone. I was going over some numbers, and the Labor government that has been in control of queensland for some time now, has made an absolute abortion of the finances etc. WA and QLD are two huge mining powerhouses. This is on the basis that export is high, and income to the state through these exports is high. Now in a study recently taken, WA lead Australia in regards to finance and economy. You would assume QLD to be higher but ah well you cant win all the time. Then you keep reading, turns out QLD is almost last. Taking into account the huge gap between 1st and 2nd too.

What the hell has Beattie and Bligh done with all the flow. We have just gone down the tail end of a mining and export boom and should be in our best state yet. Yet we could no be any worse. It makes me so angry.

One positive from this is that Labors time in QLD is well and truly up. It seems more common than ever that everyone basically knows how poor of a state they have put QLD in. Bligh should have been stood down a long time ago, and its going to be a great day when her re-election is basically not going to happen. Or a labor re-election.

More info can be found here
http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,26572589-3102,00.html

I seriously laughed so hard when I found that Lucas genuinely tried to turn it into a positive thing. It was one of those sad laughs though.

the humble weasel

The weasel, to me, is without a doubt, the best creature on this earth.

All the weasel family, including and not limited to, the ferret, mink, stoat, martin, the lesser weasel, arctic weasel etc.

They are just awesome.

corolla update

Exhaust has been basically finished, just have to mount some hangers after I buy some "8" rubbers tomorrow. Being in the year 2010 "already" makes me think just how far ahead we really are. I was telling a friend recently how good it was to buy lunch in primary school. A sausage roll for 50c and a chocolate breaka for $1.10. Im so use to thinking old people ramble on about the price of tomatoes too much until recently I was in woolworths. There upon a pedastil I saw lettuce for $2.75. Freaking $2.75. They were the smallest crummiest letti? ive ever laid eyes on. I used to work at a grocer only about 10 years ago and they were like 60c for big juicy bastards. I then went to the lamb section (I consider myself a lamb expert), freaking $27.99 a kg. For fatty little lam cutlets. I was outraged, I made a vow to never return to woolworths ever again. Id rather pay 10 bucks more to some hobo who runs his own shop and get decent produce than pay some "please come into our lovely shop, buy heaps of crap and get the hell outta here" kinda store. Like the pack your own grocery isles they have as well. Your basically not saving any money and packing your own groceries. What about in 10 years time when its not 10% of the isles, its 80% percent of the isles, and your teenage son or daughter has a hard time finding a job.

Reverting back to what I was saying, heres some videos that make me, and hopefully you, remember the good old days. When the word political correctness didn't exist, and people thought global cooling was happening.

Also a song from the good olds

practice what you preach

something funny I found, everyone who knows me knows that my biggest hatred is 90% of the stupid, overinforced, revenue raising traffic laws that exist in QLD and Australia.

Qld's Minister for transport Paul Lucas, who some time ago was found to have speeding tickets accumilated, that he blamed on his sometimes driver was demoted from his position and had to give public speaks about how what he did was wrong etc.

He was replaced by the new minister for transport Rachael Nolan, who prior to even being selected had 3 speeding fines. After being in position, she has recieved no less than 5 seperate speeding offences.

This is the lady who is advertising that speed kills, that the laws need to be toughened. Her 200k+ yearly salary makes it easy to pay the fines. But her reputation has taken not so much as a knock, as labor QLD continues to employ friends and family, who are uneducated, unsuitable for the rolls they fill, and should ultimately step aside and stop ruining our country.

Australia is so far over-regulated its not funny, and I for one am absolutely sick of it.

Soon we will need foot path lisences and a bus permit.

Theres a $100 fine for skateboarding without a helmet. Hows skateboarding any different to jogging, your just an inch higher from the ground. Will joggers have to wear helmets in the future.

http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,25257468-952,00.html

Bullshit.

old people should be seen but not smelt.

After all the usual holiday shopping hi-jinks ive completed, ive come to the conclusion that I do really hate anyone middle aged, or old. Theres a bracket between say 45 and 60 where they go awesome again though. Middle age people are assholes, you walk around, they always just act like they are the only ones in the world. Walk out of shops with an empty pram and just go 2k's an hour right in front of you. Only to stop like 5 meters later to check that they arnt missing one of their illegitimate children, their laziness also sickens me.

Anyone over the age of 80 should be thankful they are even alive and dont pester the youth. Just because you CAN get out and about in public doesn't mean you should. I dont want to think about partially rotting flesh while I eat my wendies. Some say thats closed minded of me, but the problem isnt the quality of old people, its the quantity, what ever happened to good old plagues. Any day over 65 for me and ill be thankful and do what I can for the next generations.

Which is another thing that annoys me, is people who are in hostpitals over the age of 75, your times up, get over it. Some things about modern medicine arnt about the saving of lives at all. It makes me angry.

The end.

My race car

My race car has been through many editions, firtsly its a ke70 corolla, my favourite car for many reasons. Its my 4th ke70 and my 5th rear wheel drive 80s toyota. I love the 80s nature, the tan paint, the square shape, the snappy steering and slideable nature. Its me through and through and anyone who knows me knows this.

Its kept me sane for a long time, as I have ADHD I find it very easy to fritter off in a million directions and be destracted by thousands of things. Through this my rolla has always kept me grounded, given me something to look forward to, a reason to save money, taught me how to set goals and reach them, allowed me to meet hundreds of decent people most ill call friends. Its taught me to be a safe driver, its given me the ability to maintain my own cars and save thousands of dollars over a lifetime.

Part of ADHD is perfect for creating race cars. People have misconseptions about the thing, they thinks its the kid having a tantrum at the shops wanting attention, but thats not ADHD, ADHD is not being able to give people attention, always being lost in your own little world, having no perception of time. I have full conversations with people that are indepth and knowledgable on both sides, and literally seconds after the conversation will never consciously remember what was exchanged. I can wake up in the morning the day of an exam and freak out because I havnt studied, only to remember I only went to be 15 minutes earlier after an all nighter. Its a wierd thing, but I wouldnt have it any other way.

One thing ADHD does, is lock the brain into one side for an, hour, a day, maybe even a week, it takes away the ability to swap and change between either side of the brain as quickly as one would normally. Why do I love this?

One side of the brain controls artsy stuff, creativity, colours, imagination, design, inventing and so on. The other side is planning, time, maths, all the lock it in eddy type stuff. By not being able to access the other side of the brain as much as it would like, the brain creates fixes, so in the right side of the brain, it does things to work like the left, the left side does things to make it more like the right. This is great fun. For an example look at this post, I planned to talk about my race car and im telling you the wonders of ADHD.

The reason this is great for working on cars, is because for a whole week I can be very creative, design things that other people might'n think about, design things from completely different perspectives, find ways to make things that shouldnt work, work.

The flip side of this, is that post to this design work, I can be locked into a week of math like precision and planing etc. It makes me save every dollar, it makes me work on my car for nights on end, ive woken up under my car soaking wet in the rain at 4:30am wondering how that happened, with a sump literally touching my nose. I couldnt even remember how long I had worked on my car for prior to that or even what I was working on.

It sucks in day to day life, it makes having a gf troublesome, lucky for me my latest companion is awesome and understands that although im nodding, responding, looking her in the eyes, im not listening to her list of reasons why a ghd is a logical purchase, or am I?, I dont know.

Back to my car, ill try to keep the build updated on here more reguarly.

This is how I bought it, as can be seen it was raised in green pastures in a place called gnome, outside of townsville. I bought it from a lad named Clive, he was a good egg, he even bought a new battery for it out of his own pocket so it could be driven onto the car carrier for me, which I only found out from a note left in the glove box from him, telling me of the memories he had, and asking if I could please look after it.
I did look after to it to a certain extent. As much as you can while your doing this...
Here is a video of her in action, been a while since its done anything like that...

I basically put a bigport 4age in it, a t series with trd 2 way, bolt in cage, some suspension of sorts and had a great time on various tracks and street outings. Things got a bit boring when the 100kw just wasnt enough. I found myself yearning to select 4th gear and maintain wheelspin.
For these reasons I decided to buy this. This being a 275hp toyota 3sgte (gen3) motor. The main design process in mind being, make it handle, make it reliable, pull 4th. Then, and only then, drive home.
This build has taken me over a year so far, and as such is not even finished as I type this, but It shall be in the comming weeks as I am on university holidays and have time to work on it, money, well thats a different story.
Here are some pictures from recent doings, basically having to make a roll cage, fit fuel cells, mount seats, move the motor back towards the cab by remodelling the firewall to improve handling, fitting a different gearbox, strong diff and much better suspension. Im aiming for 300hp, the biggest part of this 300hp I want to perfect is the driveability, which is why I have opted to keep the standard intercooler and turbo setup, this will maintain steady predictable linear torque in large numbers, reliability etc. This is the reasoning for raising the bonnet etc. After these pictures updates will be discussed individually when they occur.

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; Ive met all kinds of assholes at sporting events, infact I would go as far as to say that your more likely to run into an asshole at a sporting event. This is a feature motorsport finds itself exempt from.

It is basically free from douche bags. I attend everything from time attack, hill climbs, drifting, rigourous streeting in places of hilly nature. There are never douche bags. You can look to your local media for examples, every australian sport has some douche bag outsed for some lame crap.
Harrasing a girl, drugs, drunken antics, hell even tiger woods slept around and he was the highest paid sportsman of the era. How many mishaps or immoral things have you ever seen a racedriver do. None, v8 supercars, one of the most bogan of Australian sports, has never had a driver caught with wrong doings, hell you've never even heard of someone involved in the sport doing anything wrong. This goes from moto gp, f1, kart, everything.

People in motorsport are moral people, this occured to me when I realised, anyone playing with cars past 2oish is a car person. People dont become car people, they are born into the role. Ive been into motors as long as I can remember anything, I was going through old school stuff and found a story I had written in grade 1 about becoming a race driver and racing at Le Mans. My character was crudely drawn to resemble to Nintendo character Yoshi and it was funny as all hell. My point is any idiot can pick up a rugby ball and run 15 meters, throw in a few steps and do something fancy. Just in the same way anyone can drink to much and punch their wife. Thats not to say everyone does. Thats what seperates people, morals. Im not talking about the 10 commandments, good people dont need an excuse to be good.

I ramble sometimes but back to the point, an idiot cant put a car round a corner quickly lap after lap, an idiot cant build a car from the ground up for motorsport, anything as simple as an engine conversion I have found to be completely beyond 95% of people. Im not saying mechanics are smart or something, most of the best people in motorsport and building race cars were never mechanics. Closer to engineers if anything. Thats what motorsport creates, backyard engineers, and I for one love it.

Australians all too easily turn their income into empty beer bottles in a recycle bin, I respect anyone who takes the time to accomplish anything, and I tip my hat to all the backyard engineers out there.

All I am saying is in contrary to what the papers would have you believe, car lovers are reckless hoons who destroy lives and the environment. They would all have to be evil!

Put simply, they arnt, they are the nicest people in society by a long way, and most of my friends have come and gone, but the people from the car world stay and I hope till the end.

In a time of generation y being into drugs, booze, abortions etc, society should make it preferable to be into motorsport, as its the thin line between assholes and diamonds in the rough.

Some creatures deserve more respect.

Firstly, yonks since ive updated this page, big woop wanna fight about it.
Anyhoo something thats been annoying me lately is how some people react to some animals,
the stigma that some animals hold for no real reason. Im a big fan of things that a furry and small.
I have had every pet you can imagine from ferrets, miniature goats, rats, dogs, lizards of all kinds, various aquariums, even raised wild animals of various sorts from legless lizards to a murry river short neck turtle.

One thing that annoys me in particular is the humble rat.

Heres a pic of my little friends kirby and bowser;

Every person except for a handful think that rats are diseased, viscious, dirty and smelly.
I cant even begin to get through to people the contrary. Firstly the diseased issue arose
from the black plague, what people dont realise is that dogs and cats etc also spread the disease,
it was a disease carried on a flea, that was found on many animals. The poor rant took the brunt of this depiction.

Something to consider on this wavelength is the sheer number of lives that have been saved by rats. The amount of disease cured and wonders of modern medicine have all been at one stage or another tested and aided by the use of rats. I dont think anyone has ever thanked them for this.

Secondly, rats frequently suffer conditions associated from 'over grooming', not only are rats passionately clean, sometimes their drive to clean themselves can be detremental to themselves.

Thirdly, my rats (ive had over 15 all types male and female, desexed non desexed, raised wild rats etc) have never stunk. Even when I am away for a weekend or something and havn't been able to clean the cage for over a week it still doesn't smell. Mice stink, ive had mice, they make me gag, but rats dont. They are awesome.

One last thing, is the sheer personality and nature of these little creatures. They are so peaceful, relaxing and wise, they never bite or get angry, they like to snuggle, they are outrageously intelligent, and im not sure if I could ever live without at least one little friend.

I think if your ever in a discussion about rats, you owe it to them for all they have done and the little bad they have ever caused, to change peoples opinions. They are as good if not better than any cat or dog ive known or had, and its a shame they dont get the recognition they deserve.

Melbourne fires, sometimes the aid isnt genuine.

Its funny how, when something bad happens, such as the victorian fires that have occured lately, there appears to be business, utlising the event, for their own advitising gain. Companies such as banks etc all placing adverts saying they are fund raising, "come to the bank and find out how". Im all for the aid, just not for the sake of advertising. Even if they just placed an ad saying "bank x, now taking donation to aid victims of bushfires in victoria. But they dont, they use it to try and change your image of the bank etc. It frustrates me to no end.

Something that coincides with this, is that just about everything in Australia is marketed at women. Even things like mens diodorant. Some people might say, well thats smart marketing. But I think thats irrelevent, because firstly, it gives me the shits, and secondly, thats all that should matter. A typical Australian woman, buys for herself, her family, her husband. They buy the grocerys for the family, they buy the news paper, hell 99% of them get to control what tv channel to watch. Even situations such a business large or small, its always the receptionist that buys everything the business needs. There are such stupid campains that run around, like make up ads "because your worth it". Or magazines that come out weekly and make it seem like its a womans right to sit on their ass and read a magazine. Or chocolate commercials that show a woman doing something stupid, like having to stop their child running out the front door without their lunch, making it seem amazingly difficult, and for doing so they have earnt the right to sit down, read a punch of crap and eat a chocolate bar.

News papers have been structured simmilar to drama television to suck women in, tv has been shaped towards woman, because they are the ones that react to the ads, that are aimed at woman. It is known that woman have more control over what car is purchased for a family, so cars are made to suit woman now. Gone are the days of good engineering, crisp handling.
Now its all front wheel drive bullshit "0h the hazard button is such a nice colour", "oh it looks like the car has eye lashes", "i dont know the difference between a car sold in germany and a car made in germany". These are common thoughts amongst woman. Hell the vw beetle comes with a vase next to the steering wheel. Stupid things like woman not being able to drive manuals properly and most cars being designed to be auto, so manual versions drive like crap with poorly matched gears. Steering is stupidly light and vague. The brake pedals are so damn wide they almost touch the throttle. Abs kicks in when your just trying to drive firmly.

But even the stuff they should design properly to help woman, like features to stop them smashing doors on other cars in car parks, or doors that open a certain way to make it easier to get a child out. Special door handles to stop them scratching the crap out of the paint around where the key goes. A bonnet that doesnt slope off at a stupid angle so they actually know where the front of the car is etc etc. But that stuff would probably cost money, and what they are doing now obviously works.

One more offtopic thing while im off topic, but whats funny is what people consider the most macho car in australia, the big v8 holden commodore, is mainly driven by woman and metrosexuals. Easiest way to find out your driving a womans car, the drivers side sun visor has a mirror :-).

Beall out

Rudds a Dudd, and so are people who believe in global warming

Uncle Rudd wants to get rid of indecent bulbs in replacement for wound fluro bulbs. As they are
better for the environment. Guess what, they're not, sure incandescent vacuum formed bulbs use more energy,
but energy is made by power stations. Power stations, especially coal, produce pollution. Make a better
god damn power station, his government is the one that wiped nuclear power off the table in government discussions,

Australia is the best country out of ANY in the world to have nuclear power, and we DONT. We have the best space to build it, the best resources in the ground to feed it, and the best space in the ground to store its crap. It is the
best cleanest most efficient energy.

People don't realize, to make a fluro bulb, chemicals have to be produced, for chemical production, there are waste chemicals that go somewhere. When the fluro cracks open on its way to the dump, more chemicals are disposed into the world. They might use less energy, last a bit longer, but the light they make is shit house. They are expensive to produce and are NOT a solution to energy. Which was never a problem.

This comes back to his speil about carbon emissions, carbon emission tax, he wants to tax Australians for the carbon they produce, which is plain silly. Firstly, as some of you might not be aware, carbon is a heavy molecule, it doesnt go into the atmosphere, hell even oxygen cant even go high into the atmosphere. An example is the top of Mt Everest, where oxygen levels are low. What makes you think a heavier molecule can go higher? Secondly, a chap name Dr David Evans (http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,24036736-7583,00.html), who has numerous accolades, a few phds and degrees to his name, USED to work for the Government finding information about this crap. He resigned, no longer works for them, he could do nothing but find information that disproved the carbon theory. Basically in 1997 earth core data analysis found certain things, but only accurate to a few 1000 years. New tests show much more accurate results. Especially the fact that put simply, the temperature of the atmosphere, effects how much carbon can be supported, not the amount of carbon effecting the temperature. He goes on to explain how the higher the carbon level in the atmosphere, the more plants consume, and the greater plant growth is. It goes through cycles. If there are less plants on the earth, they do get cut down which sucks, which means there is less absorbed, and more in the atmosphere. But the plants left, through the process of photo synthesis, absorb more and become bigger and more plentiful. Yeah we produce a fair quantity of carbon, but carbons not the issue, there are many more bigger issues. The greatest being methane from cattle production. Which could quite easily be collected and used from cattle, with some seedy device that goes up their but and separates methane from poo, but it would never happen. Even though livestock cause more damage to the atmospheric environment that anything else. The temperatures recorded for global warming data, were put in places over 50 years ago, towns have crept up to these units and what is known as a phenomenon, whereby a city emits hear in a several kilometer radius effects these readings, but data collected from satellites, three dimensionally mapping the earths temperatures, actually show a decline in temperature world wide by a small amount over a long period, no signs at all of a temperature increase in any country.

The next thing is peoples obsession with electric things. Like solar power, people don't realize that the amount of energy used to create a solar panel, is never recouped in its lifespan. Ie the factor equipment uses more energy to produce them, than they produce. So they are only a solution for people who need power and are unable to get it from another source, not a replacement. Not to mention most decent setups need batteries, which use a lot of energy to produce, and have finite life spans and are in effect very inefficient. Not to mention costly and hard to dispose.

This applies also to hybrid cars, like the Toyota prius. The initial purchase price over say a yaris, is NEVER recouped through fuel savings. They dont even use that much less fuel than a yaris. But the worst part is that the batteries they hold cause a hell of a lot of pollution in the creation, are expensive, and need replacing. Its just not viable, and people who buy them, and their i phones will tell you all these little facts, but in the end, they ARE NOT viable. You ar better off having a tiny car like a polo tsi (turbo supercharger induction) which still goes pretty well and uses basically no fuel. Which can be a renewable source of energy if society put enough effort in.

TV ratings, your giving it to them.

Tv ratings are collected when you watch tv, when I was younger and stupider I thought they collected them buy gathering a hundred or so random people, throwing them in situations and seeing what they watch, but they dont, they can see how much of their content is watched, buy knowing how many receivers are in use. They start off by buying the paper, raising a stupid question, taking calls from people who are obviously thick as two planks, and extends these views to people who dont know any better. You get people at work discussing the radio and agreeing with what they say, about stupid scenarios and situation. The words "calls for harsher penalties" springs up about once every 5
minutes. They separate all this crap with the music they are GIVEN. Yes they don't seek out good music and play it,
they play what they are given, what they are payed to play. People make assumptions like its on the radio it must be
the best song thats out at the moment, no its not, there are millions of musicians world wide making far better music on a daily basis that dont get the recognition the deserve.

I wont even get started on the ads, people think they need the ads to keep the station going, but they have made a profit before the ads are even implemented. They are just bonuses.

At first I just assumed that most of the music they DONT play has swearing or something in it, or something like that, but the crap songs with swearing make it on there two, 19 times a day for 3 months.

Over it, over the radio, there was an awesome local station here that played good music, but their land got bought out by woolworths.

Meh

I hate alot of things, including middle aged people

The way I see it, what ever "it" may be, is that middle aged people are the most un educated, most slack working, complaining, over opinionated people in Australia. With a bit of know how in the education world, it is pretty obvious that education in Australia stinks, and it has been getting better at a steady rate, suffice to say 35 years ago, education was pretty darn poor. It was the start of a boom of more marketing, more television, more word of mouth irrelevent irrespective news articles that were swayed in what ever way possible. The people before these years learnt things for themselves, learnt how to learn things. Were taught the basics and lead hard enough lives that they managed to get a good education through their daily lives. I struggle to talk to middle aged people, their views, world perspectives are just so out of wack its not funny. But I would be more than happy to talk to any older person.

Remember how when you were growing up, your grandparents hopefully told you, dont watch the tv, itll rott your brain. Well they learnt from experience, cause their kids have got rotten brains.

The problem too lies in the fact that there are so many little niche markets with everything, that if there are only 5 stupid middle age people who are into something stupid, they will manage to find a cafe and occupy it. Keep their mentality growing, and they have all grown up to be fairly stubborn and have no error in their ways. If one says to you, hows the drought, and you say, yeah and south america has flood at the moment, itll swing round soon, they answer, what are you talking about. You try to explain but theyll argue, but I saw this on the news, I read this in the paper, I had a poor education etc etc. But they wont take what you say and do a little research and add on or change their belief, theyll ignore what you say, your younger, couldnt possibly have an idea about the ways of the world. "Ill just sit down and watch a current affair or today tonight and see how my world perspective pans out".

These are the people making important choices for our country!

anna bligh is smarter than the average australian, and thats why I hate her.

Ill try to keep this short, well short er....

But have you noticed that Bligh has had nothing but poor management for god knows how long,
they have no money, and they have people complaining that they arnt spending any. She needs money, and uses the same technique over and over again and its so damn obvious.

Step 1
Play out a problem to be bigger than it actually is
Step 2
Dont come up with a solution to prevent the problem from occurring,
but make sure money is made from the problem.

This has been done multiple times, here are some examples;

Gambling - Instead of making a system where people can only spend so much time in a pokie room, or limiting the number of pokies, or forcing pokie places to have someone who wanders around and makes sure grandma Harris isnt there for 23 hours. Change the times to a bit later, to keep the oldies and family types out.
None of these things, or anything that even remotely aided the situation was done, instead the tax was increased on the machines. Even if a hotel or pub doesnt make a single cent from a machine, the fact that people are in there buying alcohol etc is enough to justify their existence.

Speeding - If you actually go to the Australian death toll statistics page, released by the government, which is actually behind for some mysterious reason (its not a very mysterious reason), although you can get 2007.

from here - http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/safety/road_fatality_statistics/index.aspx
I recommend the anual summary. (refernce to images from this site, things to note, middle aged drivers are the fastest increasing in deaths, the highspeed vs low speed death rate, the fact that younger drivers are decreasing not increasing like the news papers tell you but are actually the fastest decreasing rate and have been for sometime.)

here is another web page showing the NEGATIVE effect of the speed camera approach
http://www.caradvice.com.au/2852/road-toll-statistics-australia-getting-worse/

Firstly, in 2007, out of every 100,000 Australians, 7.7 people died in a road fatality, from the age of 0 - 100+, this might seem significant, but actually works out to be, 0.0077%. Which is actually a very small figure, its one of the lesser causes of death by a LONG way. Your more likely to die by contracting a disease visting a freind is hostpital, than you are in a road fatality.

Secondly, the rate of deaths has been decreasing at around 5 or 6% fluctuating for some time, which in relation to the 7 or 8% increase in cars on the road is quite good BUT, this is how it effects police, government, and us. Because the death toll is decreasing (although now at a much slower rate in 2008, around 2%) the government can say what they are doing is working, even though they are dececreasing, the decrease if you will.
Because the number of cars on the road increases, and their proximity to each other increases, the death toll increases. Even though statistically death rates are getting better. For this reason police can say they need to do more, and be harsher with penalties and fines.

Where does this leave us?
In a road system that is actually one of the worst of the 1st world countries and is declinging at a rapid rate since the new anti speed campain has been implaced. Because the government didnt try real tactics like better education, better testing for new driver, current drivers having to re sit tests, television specials dedicated to education on safe road driving that goes further than idicating, gaps between cars and speed zones. If they wernt doing it for the money why are the fines there. Why not community service, why not just demerit points. Its obvious that a uni student caught doing walking speed over the speed limit is going to be affected more financially than a marketing exec in his mercedes doing $1.30 in a 100 zone.

It has been proved irrefutibly that the radar equipment is not even close to accurate, hence the reason police have tape recorders on them when they pull you over, to get admittance of guilt. When they ask you why were you speeding and you say sorry officer I didnt realsie, there is your admittance. If you say you wernt and mention your speed that is legal, they have now physical evidence to make you pay your fine, and can thus be aquitted in court.

If you look into those statistics, you will notice such things as, there are less deaths per year in high speed zones 80-1oo than there are in the low speed zones, 0-8okph, the death rate has been steadily decreasing until recently (speed cameras are having a negative effect, making drivers hesitant, bunching up closer to each other and generally forgetting other road rules) but all of a sudden its an epidemic? Facts like police classify more than speed under speeding prefix in road fatalities, such as poor roads, wet roads, failure to judge another vehicles speed and driver error. Even with all these factors falling under speeding, its still over shadowed by drugs and alcohol which clearly make up almost 70% of accidents.

But because this is dragging out ill summarise, something thats not really a problem, exadurated, a proper solution deliberately ignored, money made. People like car enthusiasts who make up the smallest minority of road users are victimised, words like hoons over used, people opinions become falsified with ignorant journalist articles in papers etc. I was actually pulled over by a policeman in my track car (everything is legal and engineer approved) who actually said to me "your the type the news papers are telling us to look for" I was shocked, since when did police officers get their information from a newspaper and not their senior at the station. It is nothing more than sheer bs. But this leads you to wonder, why type of person in society becomes a police officer? They wernt the ones at school with the clean record and the good grades, they were the ones who didnt get into university, couldn't decided what they wanted to do and missed the apprentiship boat, ended up doing a 3 weeks tafe course and sucked straight into the uniform. What makes YOU think that they are trustworthy law enforcers. They might just be doing their job, but you have to remember, they are sworn to uphold the law, at THEIR disgression.

Alcohol -
The problem that was supposed to be alcohol, which ill be the first to admit I dislike the drinking culture Australians posess, but there was supposidly a problem. Binge drinking in youths. Now instead of there being a solution, where only a limited number of standard drinks could be sold to someone under the age of 21, or limiting the amount of alcohol that a company can put in a pre mix, or doing a decent education campain that goes through the science behind the problem as does more than mention that, its bad mkay.

No instead they raised the taxes, knowing full well the sales would be exactly the same, kids would turn from premix to mixers also.

Pools -
A child drowns in a pool, the government jumps onto it, its an epidemic, its happening everywhere, we wont use better education for pool owners, we wont stress the importance of a good fence, we wont fund the councils to have somebody inspect them. Instead a $250-$300 dollar payment must be made annually by pool owners. Where the money goes, who knows, does the pool get checked nup, does it prevent any future occurances, not really.

Why does the government do this -
Well the average Australian is pretty stupid, its not a statement, its science. The government gets a win win situation, people are happy because they think the Government is proactive and fixing problems, people that are in the industry get more attention and respect government for taking notice, and the government gets a nice slice of the pie. How much? Well its estimated that around $150,000 a day is made in speed fines in QLD alone, around 75,000 people in QLD have a pool which works out to be 75,000 x 150 (err on the lesser side to prove a point) = $11250000, which to a government who is struggling financially through poor management is tasty pie indeed.

What can we do? -
Stop buying newspapers, there are very few that actually have real information that arnt swayed towards the government in one way or another. Where I live there is a paper called the Sunshine Coast Daily, I dont even classify it a newspaper, more over a paper magazine, all the middle agers go out and buy it and end up with these wierd contrived world perspectives. Attitudes like if they do the speed limit they are a safe driver. They do nothing more than make monitary gains out of other peoples missery, it is simply imorral. Tv is also significantly bad. Remember when you parents used to say dont watch that it will rot your brain, well now the parents are the ones watching it, and their brains are rotten.
