The radio still sucks

Apparently MTV killed the radio,

But the radio just sucks,

Where I live, on the Sunshine Coast, the radio stations do the same jive every day. They start off by buying the paper, raising a stupid question, taking calls from people who are obviously thick as two planks, and extends these views to people who dont know any better. You get people at work discussing the radio and agreeing with what they say, about stupid scenarios and situation. The words "calls for harsher penalties" springs up about once every 5
minutes. They separate all this crap with the music they are GIVEN. Yes they don't seek out good music and play it,
they play what they are given, what they are payed to play. People make assumptions like its on the radio it must be
the best song thats out at the moment, no its not, there are millions of musicians world wide making far better music on a daily basis that dont get the recognition the deserve.

I wont even get started on the ads, people think they need the ads to keep the station going, but they have made a profit before the ads are even implemented. They are just bonuses.

At first I just assumed that most of the music they DONT play has swearing or something in it, or something like that, but the crap songs with swearing make it on there two, 19 times a day for 3 months.

Over it, over the radio, there was an awesome local station here that played good music, but their land got bought out by woolworths.

Meh

  1. agreed

but in order to keep the station going (not all stations should), they need to get funding. not once off donations, but a continuous financial cow to milk. the way they get this is by selling airtime to heartless/faceless corporations.
    you already know this
point is, don't listen to shit stations. community stations and Triple J is where its at. my band gets played about once a week.
    see my own ad.

  3. "Its funny how, when something bad happens, such as the victorian fires that have occured lately, there appears to be business, utlising the event, for their own advitising gain. Companies such as banks etc all placing adverts saying they are fund raising, "come to the bank and find out how". Im all for the aid, just not for the sake of advertising. Even if they just placed an ad saying "bank x, now taking donation to aid victims of bushfires in victoria. But they dont, they use it to try and change your image of the bank etc. It frustrates me to no end."

& yet in times of crisis you advertise lending products on your blog sites.. don't you think thats a bit of a paradox? LOL x 1000

  4. not really, just more evidence to my statement, i have no choice in regards to the advertisement of my page. It is free, ads are a given, lenders were not the problem for the financial crisis. There were PARTICULAR lenders who caused problems, but in general, lenders are a necessary part of society, and on the whole deliver what they say they will, although charge excessive rates etc.
